SPANISH LIVES HERE

Art direction and design for a cultural institution.

Instituto Cervantes is the largest worldwide non-profit organization created by the Spanish government to promote the Spanish language. Branched out in over 45 different countries with 86 centers devoted to Spanish and Hispanic American cultures, their goal is to contribute to the advancement of the Spanish and Hispanic American culture in non-Spanish-speaking countries.

This is the visual story of my collaboration with Instituto Cervantes in New York City.

Día E. Celebrating Spanish.

Over 500 million people speak Spanish. Spanish is the second language with most speakers in the world, the second language for worldwide communication, the most used language in Facebook and Twitter and the third most used language on the Internet. Día E is a special day to celebrate Spanish and its speakers, with a cultural program full of fun activities for people of all ages.

Exhibitions

Being true to the featured artists and to the Cervantes Institute brand guidelines, was the main goal when developing materials for all the exhibitions, programs, and events. I wanted to create unique, collectible pieces. A brochure-poster-mail, a collection of postcards, a window that showcased part of the exhibition inviting pedestrians to join us.

Outreach

In an effort to engage the audience in the Spanish language and the cultural diversity offered by Instituto Cervantes, we created a print ad campaign featuring how the Spanish language lives in the English vocabulary. We used words in Spanish that are familiar to English speakers to promote exhibitions, classes, and events inviting the audience to be part of this community.
